Scotland Yard Ian Stewart, Kevin Caron, Mike Gerdov, Pascal Werlberger, Stephan Reebs It's Alain's turn to be the criminal, and he has no more success than the rest of us did.
Fearsome floors Ian Stewart A very close contest. Pascal is all poised to win but in a last second tactical move Ian sacrifices his third man to divert the monster, who keeps going and gobble up Pascal's winning candidate. Then Ian brings his second man in just before Alain.

Played at Stephan's place. MIPS. We take advantage of a reduced number of players to play the 2019 Spiel des Jahres winner, Wingspan, for the first time.

Wingspan Mike Gerdov A close contest between Pascal, Stephan, and Ian, with 59, 61, and 62 points respectively ... except that Mike crushes us all with 88 points. He films birds, and builds feeders for birds, and wins with birds!

Played at Stephan's place. IPSAMK. Ian wears a stylish Christmas T-shirt. Mike discloses that Root is healthy again. Kevin brings a beer. Alain mentions an attempt to digitally model the brain. Pascal arrives uncharacteristically late (having a newborn at home). Stephan hosts. By the way, congratulations to Alain for his draw in Jean Desforges's chess simultaneous last Thursday.

Condottiere Ian Stewart, Stephan Reebs Sharper tactics than last week. We fill the board, and Ian and Stephan share the victory with four territories each.
Taj Mahal Mike Gerdov Alain must go shopping, leaving us with the right number of players to tackle a never-played-before game: Taj Mahal. For brevity's sake we cut it short to nine rounds rather than the prescribed 12, and after a close-fought battle Mike emerges victorious with 24 points.

Played at Stephan's place. MAPSKI. Whiskey fest was a success last week end. Will tomorrow night's chess simultaneous against Jean Desforges also be a success, with Alain and Mike defending the honour of the HFG? Stephan has another engagement that night (a wine and cheese organised by the biology students).

Condottiere Kevin Caron Kevin wins the inaugural game of Condottiere pretty fast, with three adjacent territories.
Condottiere Pascal Werlberger Mike must leave to take care of Root, who got bitten by a vole he was playing with. Meanwhile Pascal gets three territories in a row pretty quickly, like his predecessor Kevin did. We need to learn how to defend better!
Category 5 Alain Haché With seven cards above 87, Pascal picks up three rows (including a 101 picking up a row ending in 25) but he gets off easy with only 23 points picked up in that round. Not as bad as Stephan who, with seven cards below 33, picked up four rows, in a row, for 42 points, ending the game. All this to see Alain win with a final score of 40.
