The House of Fun and Games flag

In 2014, Stephan created a flag for the House of Fun and Games. It looks like this:

The banner version is simply this:

The symbol is a meeple. A meeple (short for "my people") is a small wooden piece in the shape of a person that represents a player on the game board. It was first popularized by the game Carcassonne, though many other board games have used meeples since then. Here it stands as a symbol for board games in general, and for the players that gather at the HFG to play. There are more than one meeple on the flag to emphasize that playing board games is a social activity, a gathering of friends and like- minded enthusiasts.

The rectangle represents the table around which we gather to play the games.

The colour green represents hope, in this case the hope of winning!

The colour white represents peace and harmony, which always reign at the end of the gathering no matter who won and who lost.

The flag obeys the rule of good flag design: it is simple, distinctive (does not resemble other well known flags), easy to recognize from a distance or in the breeze, and has meaningful components and colours.

The flag or banner flies on the front porch of the HFG whenever a game night is in session!
